Quick Tip for Taking Your Own Photos
Hey - whether you are taking some fun photos with your cell phone or other camera, you likely already know how important having good light is to your finished pictures, right? We can't always have perfect light and even though our cell phones can take some pretty good photos, sometimes they need a little human assistance!
Randy and I were recently on vacation in Mexico and while I was taking a walk on the beach one morning, a couple of ladies were also walking and when they noticed my camera over my shoulder, one asked me if I would mind taking a photo of them with her cell phone. Of course - happy to! Then she told me she wanted to have this large rock formation behind them. I was actually going to position her and her friend a little differently with their backs to the ocean and the sunlight coming up over the mountain lighting their faces. However, when I positioned them with the big rock behind them, the sun was then also behind them. That means that their faces did not have much light on them and consequently were a bit darker than she would have liked.
What was the solution? Pretty simple, I turned on the flash on her phone camera and that gave us just enough pop of light to offset the sunlight behind them.
Keep this tip in mind next time you find yourself faced with a challenging lighting situation!
Happy picture taking!
