New Year - New Start - And We are Off!
2025 is off to a roaring start and January is almost over in a blink of my eye!
I'm not one to make New Year's Resolutions for many reasons, but mainly when I don't keep them, then I feel like I've failed or not kept a commitment. I do however like to set goals which in all honesty, I could do a better job of; however, the idea of a goal is to set a desired and measurable end point which one hopes to meet. And, as many of us have read and/or learned, it is important to create smaller goals along the way that will help get us to that larger end goal. I'm still working on mine for this year, but I do have some thoughts rolling through my mind, I just need to determine the priorities and then layout the plan.
A part of this process is to look back over the past year to see what was successful, where I can make improvements, and then determine what I want to accomplish in 2025.
In this look back, I like to start with a review of some of my favorite images made in the last year and think about why they are favorites. As a photographer, it can be a challenge to look at our images because our first inclination is to pick them apart technically. But in looking back through images from 2024, I realized I was drawn to images because of getting to know these families and/or individuals and what an honor and pleasure it was to capture a unique portrait that preserves memories for them as well. The true meaning or significance of each image may be known only to that individual/family and the special story or significance shared with me by this family or person, or what was going on or said when the photograph was made. That is what makes these special to me!
I'd love to know which ones are your favorites!
I wish I could share some of the stories behind each of these portraits with you. Maybe I'll select a few for future posts.
Your family has a special story too! Is 2025 the year to capture some special memories of a milestone or special event in your life or the life of your family? We would love to be part of telling your story.
