Now is Always a Good Time for a New Headshot
I know everyone is so thankful that businesses, and consequently our lives, are beginning to return to normal or at least a new normal. Everywhere I go, I see signs at businesses saying they are hiring. That's exciting on multiple fronts. What that, it also says that there are a lot of people who have been at home - either without a job or working from home (think sitting in front of the computer in their pjs). Talking with many folks recently, it looks like a number of business offices are going towards a hybrid plan of having their employees work part of the time from home and part of the time back in the office. Will your colleagues recognize you when they see you again?? Regardless of the plan, I'm seeing a greater need for updated professional headshots.
With so many people either looking to get back into the work place or thinking about changing positions, working from home for the past year, or maybe you never had one or just need an updated photo of yourself, I can think of the following reasons for a new professional headshot:
- Update your Linked In profile image
- Update your Facebook and Instagram profile images
- Add a professional image to your resume - don't even think about putting a selfie on your resume!
- Use for virtual meetings - MS Teams, Zoom, Skype, etc.
- Add to your email - I know MS Outlook allows adding a profile photo.
- A printed 5x7 or 8x10 of you for your family!
There truly is no substitute for a professional image. It speaks volumes about you and leaves no doubt that you are a professional. And yes, businesses search for your profile on multiple social media platforms, not just Linked In, so make sure your Facebook and Instagram profiles and posts are consistent with your personal brand - you know, the image that represents you.
Your image matters! Make sure your first impression is a positive one and a lasting one!
