Printing versus Digital Files
I just want prints! Or I just want the digitals. I hear that from some of my clients. I know they say this because that's what they think of when they think of photography. And that makes sense because that is what is easiest for us to get from our cell phones. Have I got a surprise in store for you! There are so many options it can actually be mind boggling, but know that I am here to help you. That's why you chose a professional photographer. Because you want more than just a digital image that you may or may not be able to find in the future. And that's where the pre-session consultation can be a great help for both of us. It allows you to see the variety of options available and start visualizing and planning where you want your portraits in your home. Over your fireplace, in your family room, in your bedroom, up the staircase, in your entry, in your office, in your baby's room, and on and on! And, it allows me to better plan your portrait session so we can make sure we get the images that you want and that will work in your desired space.
Here is a brief overview of some of the products that you'll have to choose from, and you can mix and match and create your own collection: 1) Wall portraits - do you want a gallery wrap or traditional framed canvas? You can also frame your gallery wrap. 2) Folio box - Don't have a lot of wall space or don't want to purchase a large wall portrait? Maybe the folio box will fit your needs. Its a lovely box that holds up to 18-20 of your favorite matted prints from your session. It comes in various sizes and you can choose to display or even frame one or more of your prints at a time or just open your box whenever you want to show off your prints. 3) Folio - these come in bi-fold and tri-fold and in small and large sizes featuring 2 or 3 of your favorite prints that can be open on your desk or bookcase. 4) Album - loving all your images and having trouble eliminating - albums are a lovely keepsake to have 5, 10, 25 or more of your images arranged in a beautifully bound book to keep on your coffee table to enjoy again and again. 5) You can also get gift prints (5x7s, 8x10s, and 11x14s) to keep or give away. 6) Image blocks - a favorite image displayed in acrylic to be displayed on your desk or bookcase.
When clients come to my studio for their consultation, I often hear, "Wow, I had no idea there were so many options to choose from. I had no idea all these products existed." Occasionally, someone will think they want one thing and then when they see their final images and can really visualize how they will look, they decide they do want that wall portrait - actually often times they will want a wall collection, as my most recent client decided to do - see her selection below. Her 4 daughters went together to purchase the portrait session and they talked about getting prints to make their own wall gallery. When mom saw the final images and what they could look like on her wall when sized appropriately, she knew that is just what she wanted. They did a great job selecting a variety of images to showcase their family. Whatever you want, we have just the right product for you and I'll be there to help guide you each step of the way. And, you can have prints - but don't stop there, select something that really showcases your family!
