Focus for Success
Staying in your lane is not referring to the lane you are driving your car in. Rather, it refers to finding out what you are good at, where you receive joy and satisfaction, and putting your focus and attention there.
I recently listened to a podcast by two of my favorite photography mentors, Alison Tyler Jones and Mary Fisk-Taylor, where they encouraged listeners (photographers) to "find your lane, put your blinders on, your head down and just go for it."
Sometimes we can look around us at others and think they have it so good and everything about their life seems perfect. Well, nobody’s life is perfect. Nobody in the whole world’s life is perfect. Everybody has stuff going on. Good things can happen for each of us and success can happen for each of us. We just have to focus our efforts and work.
We can enjoy and admire what other people are doing, but it is important for us to stay true to who we are! This requires us to sift through the noise, and there is lots of it out there today on all the social media channels. Remember that comparison is a thief of joy. Admire others, but don't try to imitate others, just be yourself! We are each unique and that's a good thing!
Am I preaching to the choir? Absolutely! This was a great reminder and encouragement for me and I hope it is for you as well.
Join me in putting the blinders on and let's be our best selves!
